A 10-day intensive training for Pilates Matwork, delivered by Brigid McCarthy.
A 3 - 6 month Apprenticeship (tba)
A 2 day certification
Who is this Course aimed at?
Those who have completed the Fundamental Matwork Training.
Pilates teachers who want a “refresher” or to fulfil cpd requirements (not certifying)
Course Content:
- postural assessments
- pathologies relating to:
- posture
- joints
- tendons and ligaments
- major muscle groups
- feet & gait
- pain
- proprioception and balance
- ante and post natal
- class planning
- teaching skills and handling

Apprenticeship (up to 6 months)
During this 3-6 month period prior to certification, students are asked to complete certain requirements:
20 hours attending class
20 hours teaching practice
completing a 6 hour First Aid Course (St Andrews/St Johns Ambulance)
gaining appropriate insurance
self study (approx. 50 hours)
Certification (2 days @ £400/person)
Students will be informally assessed during their Immersion Training.
Formal assessment consists of:
- submission of a case study (8 classes teaching an individual with remedial issues)
- written exam
- teaching assessment (a 1-to-1 postural assessment followed by a private class)
Successful students will be awarded a certificate from Brigid McCarthy Pilates Studio qualifying them to teach Remedial Matwork.
Minimum Entry Requirements
A certification in Fundamental Matwork
basic computer skills
reasonable fitness level
Other Information
A minimum of 4 participants is required with a maximum of 8.
Courses can be arranged at any venue
