Course Summary
A 9-day intensive training for the Universal Reformer, delivered by Brigid McCarthy
A 3 - 6 month Apprenticeship
A 2 day certification
Who is this Course Aimed at?
Qualified Matwork teachers who want to move into the equipment
Equipment-trained Pilates teachers who want a “refresher” or to fulfil cpd requirements (Immersion course only)
Advanced students who want to understand Pilates at a greater depth (Immersion course only)

Course content:
- full repertoire, beginners to advanced
- handling skills
- class planning
- health & safety
All manuals included
Apprenticeship (up to 6 months)
During this 6 month period prior to certification, students are asked to complete certain requirements:
- 30 hours attending class
- 30 hours teaching practice
- completing a 6 hour First Aid Course (St Andrews/St Johns Ambulance)
- gaining appropriate insurance
- self study
Certification (2 days @ £400/person + studio fees if applicable)
Students will be informally assessed during their Immersion Training.
Formal assessment consists of:
- written assessment
- teaching assessment
Successful students will be awarded a certificate from Brigid McCarthy Pilates Studio qualifying them to teach Universal Reformer from beginners to advanced (non-remedial).
Minimum Entry Requirements
For those wanting to certify:
- completion of a Pilates Matwork Teacher Training course
- a good working knowledge of anatomy
- appropriate insurance
- access to a UR for practice and teaching practice
- basic computer skills
- reasonable fitness level
For those doing for CPD or advanced students:
- a good working knowledge of anatomy
- reasonable fitness level

Other Information
A minimum of 2 participants is required with a maximum of 6.
Courses can be arranged at any venue dependent on equipment being available.
